Collaboration in the age of AI

AI may make us more productive individually. But I think it will make collaboration even more important. The reason is simple: things are changing too quickly for any of us to keep up alone.

New tools, capabilities and ways of working are emerging constantly. What one person learns today could change how another person approaches a problem tomorrow. Working in silos becomes increasingly difficult when the knowledge itself keeps changing. But there is something else I think we sometimes miss.

Before we use AI to build solutions faster, we need a shared understanding of the problems we are trying to solve. AI can generate many possible answers very quickly. But if different teams have different interpretations of the problem, we may simply move faster in different directions. The same is true for the human in the loop.

As AI becomes part of more workflows and decisions, we need to learn from each other about where human judgment belongs. When should we question an output? Where does context matter? Where do empathy, experience and accountability remain essential? And maybe this changes the skills we need to develop.

For years, the digital revolution taught us to become better at interacting with technology. AI may make some very old human skills more valuable again:
Listening. Questioning. Communicating. Collaborating. Exercising judgment. Building trust.

There is an interesting paradox in all of this. Technologically, we are moving rapidly towards the future. But as humans, perhaps we are being asked to rediscover our core essence.

Maybe the future of work will depend not only on how well we work with AI, but on how well AI helps us work with each other.

Yes that little guy is me.. We all grow up over time.. but also need to go back in time to understand the future
