You are Welcome !

You are Welcome !

Saturdays after dropping my son for his service hours activity I have a few hours to spare. I usually go to a coffee shop and read. Two weeks back I checked if the local library is open and they are.

Now that is where I go and sit and read. This is a picture I took from there.

As I stood there I felt a tremendous joy.

I looked at this poster that said welcome in different languages. Whenever I see something like that I look for a language I know and when I find it I feel happy and cared for.

I mostly see Hindi. Though that is not my mother tongue, I know it is there to welcome everyone from the Indian subcontinent whether everyone can read Hindi or not.

There are times in other places when I don’t see Hindi or a language I can read and I wonder why don’t they have it.

It is amazing to note how easily we all can feel excluded. Most times it is not even be intentional and yet we feel left out.

It is not whether a poster has our language or not, but a poster like this signifies that this place… this space is for everyone.

Everyone is equal in here…

Our human need and urge to be included is so strong and is now a basic psychological need in a complex world. No wonder inclusiveness has become so crucial in the society and the workplace.

The fact that the library is there. The fact that it is so inclusive. The fact that it gives us a place to expand ourselves. The fact that it gives us a space to be alone yet not lonely. These are important things in life.

We are all Welcome – स्वागत हे 🥰
