That Collective Understanding

Sometimes we know it is going to be tough. We know we have a lack of knowledge. We know we have less time. We know the expectations are high. The stakes are high. What do we do ?

We can do a lot of things. But that is not the point. what would be the best thing that can happen to us. Having people who are honest with us and having people with whom we can be honest. Where we can be vulnerable and honest. Vulnerably Honest !

Being around people who acknowledge that we are in the same boat. Sometimes the sea is calm; sometimes it is rough. Sometimes we have to prepare for a storm. What ever the situation, we are in it together.

There is transparency, honesty and there is a collective understanding that we all fail and win together. There is no siloed victories or individual failures in teams. There should not be.

And yes there is loyalty to one another.

As G.K Chesterton wrote “We are all in the same boat, upon a stormy sea. We owe to each other a terrible and tragic loyalty.”

Don’t take Tragic in its literal sense. But yes we see people leave us against their will and ours. In life and work. Some can feel tragic. But the boat remains and so does the sea and the storm.
