“When you see someone often flashing their rank or position, or someone whose name is often bandied about in public, don’t be envious; such things are bought at the expense of life. . . .
Some die on the first rungs of the ladder of success, others before they can reach the top, and the few that make it to the top of their ambition through a thousand indignities realize at the end it’s only for an inscription on their gravestone.”
These are the words of Seneca… I know posting it on a platform where everyone is in a race to achieve more and more ‘what is written on your tomb?“ is a misplaced question… 😁😜
I have been lately reading Ryan Holiday and Morgan Housel together and to spice it up while I go to bed I read a few pages of Bhujangayyana Dashavathara the amazing kannada novel by Srikrishna Alanahalli.
We live in a world where creating meaning is not that easy as it used to be before and sometimes we need to get on a swing that will take us between so many different worlds with an honest thread that connects us to reality.
I don’t care what will be written on my tombstone because there is not going to be one.
My entire body is to be donated and used to the last bit of bone. And I wish there is no kind of remembrance. I wish to just fade away from people’s memories. Some faster and some slow… The world needs to continue to spin till it stops and everything ends.
But while we are here… We need it all… Seneca, Marcus Arelius, Gurdjieff, Vivekananda, Rumi, Jiddu, Buffet, Money, Dostoevsky, Marques, achievements, titles, salary, appreciation, sense of belonging… all matter.
Have a happy week ahead where we all can be more than what we can be… more than what we alone can ever be 🙏
